From 20 September to 5 October 2025, the spring school holidays are bursting with possibilities at Melbourne Museum. Kids can fold paper creatures in the magical Folded Forest, build a LEGOยฎ Star Wars lightsaber, or even sleep beneath the towering dinosaurs. Families can step inside breathtaking 3D worlds at IMAX, join creative workshops, or get hands-on with nature and science. With so many boredom-busting experiences across Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks and IMAX, itโ€™s the perfect time for curious young explorers to learn, play and create.

LEGOยฎ and Star Wars fans, this oneโ€™s for you. See epic battles, legendary ships and beloved characters built from more than 8 million bricks. Created right here in Melbourne, this jaw-dropping exhibition is a must-see for families.

2. Star Warsโ„ข Galactic Cafรฉ

Step into Australiaโ€™s first Star Warsโ„ข Galactic Cafรฉ. This limited-time pop-up immerses fans of all ages in a galaxy-inspired menu, with dishes themed around iconic moments from the saga. Bookings are recommended as seating is limited, with only a small number of walk-ins available each day.

3. Family Sleepovers

4. Folded Forest

Step into a growing paper forest and learn the art of origami. Create your own animal and add it to the towering trees that symbolise biodiversity and connection. A beautiful, hands-on activity for all ages.

5. Seed Stories

Explore the magic of seeds in this family workshop for ages 5+. Start with a guided walk through the Forest Gallery, then plant native seeds to take home. A fun and meaningful way to connect with nature.

Dino Days invites our youngest dinosaur enthusiasts to explore all things dinosaur. From dino discos and dress-ups to story times and sensory soft play, itโ€™s a dinosaur day out at Melbourne

8. Tiny Tours โ€“ Big Adventures for Little Explorers

Every Monday, Wednesday and various dates | 10amโ€“2pm | $18-$22 per child

Designed especially for young children and their adults, Tiny Tours light the spark of curiosity with fun, interactive adventures through the museum. Families will uncover fascinating stories from nature in a hands-on way, inspiring little explorers to see the world with wonder.

9. Stop, Look, Listen, Think & Stick: Your Path to Safety

Monday 22 September โ€“ Saturday 4 October (excluding Sundays) | 10amโ€“3pm | Included in museum entry

Families can use stickers to map out a safe journey through a maze of streets, bike paths and roads. Along the way, kids learn about making safe pedestrian choices in everyday life. Perfect for children aged 3โ€“10, this activity is fun, interactive and helps build important safety awareness.
