How to Submit Your Event
To be eligible, your event must meet the following criteria:
- Have a start and end date ie not an ongoing event or permanent event.
- Located within Melbourne metropolitan area OR within 1 hour of the Melbourne metropolitan area if it is a major event designed to bring in visitors from Melbourne (eg not small, local events that are produced to serve the local community)
- Appealing to locals and visitors with children 12 years and under
- Have an event-specific URL to which we can direct our readers. Ideally, this should be a website URL, but we will accept Eventbrite (or similar) URLs and Facebook URLs.
We do not list websites or apps, accommodation, retail events (unless there is a family-friendly element), services, promotions and giveaways.
We will only list the event in the What’s On edition for the month it is on ie not when tickets go on sale prior.
All listings are reviewed and edited to meet TOT: HOT OR NOT’s editorial and content standards. We reserve the right to decline or remove any listing at any time without notice. Publication of a listing is not an endorsement.

When do you accept listings?
Monthly What’s On
We publish the next month’s What’s On posts on or around the 15th of current month.
eg.
What’s On in February is published on or around 15 January
What’s On in March is published on or around 15 February etc.
We accept submissions for a Monthly What’s On posts up until the 14th day of the current month
eg.
What’s On in February will accept February event submissions until 14 February
What’s On in March will accept March event submissions until 14 March etc
School Holiday What’s On
We publish our quarterly School Holidays What’s On posts 4 weeks before the beginning of the school holidays.
We accept submissions for School Holidays What’s On posts until the Monday before the beginning of the school holidays.

How long will it take to publish my listing?
All listings are reviewed by our editors. If approved, your listing will be published within 3 business days.
If your listing requires editing or removal after publication, please contact us at hello@tothotornot.com.
Where will my listing be published?
Listings are published in What’s On posts sorted by geography and then in chronological order from the event start date, in the order in which events have been submitted.
Some listings may be selected for promotion by our editors:
- in our Thursday eDM as one of the Top 10 events for that weekend; or
- in our Sunday Fast 5 eDM as one of the Top 25 events for that Monday to Friday.
If you wish to secure a specific position for your listing in a What’s On post and to guarantee a feature in one of our weekly eDMs, there is an opportunity to upgrade your free listing to a Featured Listing.
What are the photo requirements?
You can add up to 3 photos to your submission. We do not guarantee that we will publish any or all of the images.
Photos must be:
- JPG or JPEG format;
- maximum 2000px in width;
- less than 450MB in size;
- free of logos or text;
- representative of your listing;
- approved for use by the copyright owner; and
- taken in a lawful, fair and direct manner.
We will not publish posters/flyers, images with text or logos, or images that we consider to not be appropriate for TOT: HOT OR NOT.
Note if people can be identified in an image, you must have their written permission. If children can be identified you must also have written consent from their parent/guardian.
If we publish your image/s they may appear on our website, social media and emails.
Why was my listing declined?
We reserve the right to decline or remove any listing at any time and without notice.
Your listing will mostly have been declined because our editors determine that it doesn’t meet our listing criteria. If you require specific feedback please contact us at hello@tothotornot.com.
Why has my listing information changed?
We reserve the right to modify any of the content submitted to ensure it meets TOT: HOT OR NOT’s editorial and content standards.

If you wish to:
- secure a specific position for your listing in a What’s On post eg above the fold;
- promote your event via our social media channels; and/or
- guarantee a feature in one of our weekly eDMs,
