Scienceworks SPRING School Holiday Program
1. Air Playground
Air Playground welcomes curious kids and their families to play with air, the amazing invisible force, and experience the science of aerodynamics. Whoosh, swirl, gust, squish, flow, float and more!

Details: Don’t miss the final days of Air Playground, where kids can explore the invisible power of air. This interactive exhibit lets them float objects, launch balls sky-high, squish giant inflatable sculptures, and craft paper planes that soar.

Scienceworks Superpower Series
The Superpower program at Scienceworks is a dynamic series of STEM workshops and events designed for children aged 10 to 12, with a special focus on girls and non-binary kids.
The program includes hands-on activities that explore themes like space science, future technology, sustainability, and kindness. Participants engage in creative problem-solving, meet STEM experts, and tackle real-world challenges such as coding robots and designing habitats for life on the moon.
Each event is crafted to inspire curiosity, boost confidence in STEM fields, and showcase how science can make a positive impact on the world.
2. Science is a Superpower Festival
Dates: Saturday 14 – Sunday 15 September 2024
Times: 10:00 am – 4:30 pm
Details: Perfect for primary and early high school students, this two-day festival is packed with live science experiments, Q&A sessions with STEM experts, and play-based learning activities. From real Martian rovers to meditation science, this event is all about celebrating the wonders of STEM.

3. Curiosity is a Superpower
Date: Saturday 7 September 2024
Times: 10:30 am – 3:00 pm
Details: A half-day STEM workshop for girls and non-binary kids aged 10 to 12. Participants will explore astronomy and space science, visit the Melbourne Planetarium, meet a female scientist, and design a moon habitat.

4. Kindness is a Superpower
Date: Saturday 5 October 2024
Times: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Details: This STEM workshop for girls and non-binary kids aged 10 to 12 focuses on future technology and sustainability. Kids will program robots, learn from an invertebrate researcher, and imagine a kinder future.

5. Weekend Amphitheatre Show

Details: Experience the wonders of sound in “Good Vibrations,” a 20-minute live show featuring engaging demonstrations and unique animal communication insights. This free science show will explore sound creation and detection through interactive experiments.

6. The Glow Show

7. Guided Highlights Tour
Dates: Daily

Details: For the first time, visitors can join a guided tour to explore some of Scienceworks’ most remarkable exhibits. Led by a knowledgeable guide, this tour features treasures like the world’s oldest surviving first-generation electronic computer, the Da Vinci Surgical System (the first ever used in Australia), and a 4.5-billion-year-old meteorite.

8. FlushBack
FlushBack, Scienceworks’ new, award-winning AR adventure, brings to life the awe-inspiring heritage-listed Spotswood Pumping Station.

Details: Explore the history of Melbourne’s sewage system with this award-winning AR adventure at the heritage-listed Spotswood Pumping Station. Complete challenges based on real historical events to keep the Pumping Station running.
