Waterbom Bali: Why Asiaโ€™s Best Water Park is a Must-Do With Kids

Voted Asiaโ€™s #1 Waterpark on Tripadvisor, Waterbom Bali is more than just a place to cool offโ€”itโ€™s an unforgettable family day out packed with excitement, greenery and plenty of creature comforts for parents.

Weโ€™ve now visited twice with our young kids and absolutely love it. From thrilling slides to shaded rest spots, Waterbom manages to strike that perfect balance between adventure and ease.

Hereโ€™s everything we loved, and what youโ€™ll want to know before you goโ€”including why gazebo hire is worth every rupiah.

Waterbom Park Bali

Waterbom Bali exceeds our expectations. Think lush gardens, winding pathways, and a calm, welcoming vibe that makes it easy to slip into holiday mode.

The park is well designed and easy to get around. Clear signage, friendly staff, and lots of shaded areas make it super manageable with young kids in tow.

With more than 26 slides (all meeting international safety standards), thereโ€™s plenty to keep older kids and teens busy. But if youโ€™re after something slower-paced, youโ€™ll also find tranquil lagoon pools, some with swim-up bars, and even a Lazy River thatโ€™s perfect for floating the day away.

Add to that some great dining optionsโ€”affordable, tasty, and mostly locally sourcedโ€”and itโ€™s easy to see why this park has such a strong reputation with families.

Waterbom Park for Preschoolers

Travelling with younger kids? Waterbom has that covered too.

Our preschoolers absolutely love the dedicated kidsโ€™ area, which includes mini slides, shallow splash pools, and fun water cannons. The Aquaplay zone quickly becomes their go-to spot, and right next door is a kid-sized version of the famous Boomerang slideโ€”perfect for our 4-year-old thrill seeker.

On our latest visit, we explore the new 1-hectare kidsโ€™ zone, which opened in August 2024. Itโ€™s hugeโ€”three times the size of the originalโ€”and features a towering 15-metre-high water playground with over 40 features, five slides, splash zones for toddlers, and interactive water play.

Thereโ€™s also a lovely open-air family restaurant with 120 seats, upgraded amenities like lockers and first aid, and plenty of shaded areas to relax. Itโ€™s a total win for families with little ones.

More Waterbom Activities for the Whole Fam

Beyond the dedicated kidsโ€™ zone, the whole park is full of family-friendly fun.

We all enjoy the Lazy Riverโ€”itโ€™s long enough to feel like an adventure, but calm enough for everyone to enjoy. There are also lagoon pools dotted around where kids can splash and adults can chill.

For something different, the Euro Bungy and FlowRider are also big hits with our crew.

If youโ€™ve got older kids or brave parents, there are heaps of bigger slidesโ€”from gentle curves to hair-raising vertical drops. While I happily sit out The Drop and Fast Nโ€™ Fierce, hubby certainly gives them a red-hot go!

Safety is clearly a top priority here. Lifeguards are stationed everywhere, staff are attentive, and swim vests for kids are available free of charge.

Why Gazebo Hire is a Must

Hiring a gazebo at Waterbom Bali was one of the best decisions we made. These private, shaded spaces offer comfy seating, a ceiling fan, and even a small safe for valuables. It gives us a perfect home base where the kids can rest, snack, or just take a break from the sun.

Not only did it save us trekking back and forth to lockers, but it also gave us a bit of peace and quiet in what can be a pretty lively park.

If gazebos are booked out, there are lockers and plenty of sun lounges to set up for the dayโ€”and towel hire is available too.

Family-Friendly Facilities

Waterbom Bali is genuinely geared towards families. Youโ€™ll find clean restrooms, changing rooms, showers, and loads of shaded seating throughout the park.

That said, baby change tables are few and far between. On our last visit, I ended up using a towel on a shady patch of grass to change my toddlerโ€™s nappyโ€”which worked fine, but something to be aware of if youโ€™re coming with a bub.

Easy, Cashless Payments

One thing that makes visiting Waterbom stress-free is the cashless system. When you arrive, youโ€™ll get a wristband loaded with credit, which can be topped up as needed throughout the day.

No need to carry a wallet or phone. Any leftover credit is refunded in cash before you leave.

Waterbom Food and Drink

The food at Waterbom is excellentโ€”plenty of choice, affordable prices, and kid-friendly options. We enjoy a tasty lunch that pleases both our fussy eaters and the grown-ups.

There are multiple cafes and snack bars around the park, plus drink stations to help you stay hydrated (important in the Balinese heat!).

We found the food to be affordable, especially compared to some theme parks around the world. A $3 large scoop ice cream doesn’t seem too bad!

Top Tips for Visiting Waterbom Bali

Visit the New Kids Area: Opened in August 2024, the expanded kidsโ€™ zone is a game-changer for families.

Book Tickets in Advance: Waterbom Bali tickets can be purchased online, saving you time and often money. This also helps avoid the queues at the entrance, giving you more time to enjoy the park.

Plan Your Day: Arriving early allows you to experience the park before it gets too crowded. Plus, you can take advantage of the cooler morning temperatures.

Bring Essentials: Pack sunscreen, hats, and swimwear. The Balinese sun can be intense, so it’s important to keep everyone protected. Towels are available for rent, but bringing your own can be more convenient.

Stay Hydrated and Nourished: Waterbom Bali has several eateries offering a range of food options, from local dishes to international cuisine. We enjoyed a delicious meal at one of the cafes, which catered well to our kids’ tastes. Remember to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Use the Cashless System: Waterbom Bali operates on a cashless payment system. Upon entry, you receive a wristband linked to your chosen amount of credit, which you can top up as needed. This makes transactions within the park seamless and hassle-free.

Rent a Gazebo: If you can, hire a gazebo for the day. It’s a great spot to rest, store your belongings, and have a bit of privacy and comfort.

Check Height Restrictions: Before heading to the rides, check the height restrictions to ensure your kids can go on them. This helps manage expectations and avoid disappointments.

Pack a Change of Clothes: After a day in the water, itโ€™s nice to have dry clothes to change into. The park has well-maintained changing rooms and showers for your convenience.

Bring Water Shoes: The paths can get quite hot under the sun. Water shoes will protect your feet and make walking around the park more comfortable.

Set a Meeting Point: In case you get separated, having a designated meeting spot can help everyone find each other easily.

Water Safety:  Lifeguards are present at every corner, and the staff are vigilant. Kids’ swim vests are available throughout the park for free use, and the first aid centre is marked on the visitor map.
