HOT: The Store of Requirement, Collingwood
*The Store of Requirement’s Melbourne store is now closed, so check out Myers’ Harry Potter Store to shop for Harry Potter merchandise in Melbourne.*
The Store of Requirement is Melbourne’s first dedicated Harry Potter themed shop. Witches and wizards, get your broomsticks ready!
The Store of Requirement opens today, July 31, which true fans will know is Harry Potter's birthday.
It is a cosy shop, next to the McDonalds on the corner of Smith Street and Victoria Parade, but you should find it easily…thanks to dressed up Hogwarts fans queuing at the entrance. You’d think it was Diagon Alley :)
Inside the wizarding store you’ll find all Australia’s largest collection of official Harry Potter merchandise and collectables.

It’s hard to decide between the wands, wallets, bags, robes, figurines, mugs, books and more.
My favourites? The Monster Book of Monsters…
…the Marauder's Map…
…and the Sorting Hat.
Sadly, they don’t sell Howlers…for that you’ll need to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood.
While you’re browsing take a seat in the back lounge and try a fresh Butter Brew poured straight from the tap.
It’s a fizzy butterscotch concoction just like Butterbeer (but they can’t call it that thanks to licensing laws).
It is even brewed locally at Craft & Co in Smith Street Collingwood! Note Craft & Co can’t serve Butter Brews…the only place you’ll find it is at The Store of Requirement. A cup costs $7.50 and with fresh cream $8.95.
Regular readers will know that I’m a pretty avid Harry Potter fan. If you’re also a Potterhead then check out my reviews of the Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio Tour in London (full review)and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood and book yourself tickets to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
