Tote Park Moonee Ponds is part of the major redevelopment of Moonee Valley Racecourse as Moonee Valley Park. It is the first publicly accessibly space available to visitors and residents in the Moonee Ponds development.
The racing-themed park is spread over half a hectare and evokes plenty of charm with spacious rolling lawn, serpentine gardens and a nature playground that’s great for young kids.
A memorial for the legendary horses Winx and Manikato takes pride of place in Tote Park.
The Tote Park playground is based on the idea of a garden, filled with friendly bugs and blooming flowers. In fact, you can even help one of the bees pollinate the colourful flower sculptures by turning a wheel!
There’s a small sandpit with some sandplay equipment and sound tubes…

…and a small slide attached to a wooden ramp connecting to the wide paths great for scooting or riding. The paths are all accessible, wheelchair and pram-friendly.
There are a few benches but no picnic shelter, BBQs or toilets, so it’s not a park that you’d be expecting to spend the whole day.
Tote Park will be the place for Moonee Valley Park residents to have community gatherings, picnics and gentle strolls for young and old.
Tote Park is also hosting Moonee Valley Park’s health and fitness program MOVE. These FREE fun and energetic group fitness sessions include a Bootcamp, Stretch and Mobility Conditioning and a Weekly Trot Run Class.
Over time the Moonee Valley Park development will incorporate the Tote Dining and Bar (a renovation of the original 1931 tote building on the site) as well as 2000 apartments and terraces and more than 20ha of new open space with a botanical theme.
In the meantime, Tote Park is walking distance from the Queen’s Park cafe Curator’s Collective, Brother Hen and The Clocktower Centre. There is free timed parking in the surrounding streets.
In Moonee Ponds you can also visit Queen’s Park, Brother Hen and The Ascot Lot.
