From the kids menu we order the fish and chips with peas. I am pleasantly surprised when the waiter asks whether I would like to kids’ meals to arrive first. Yes please!

Lady AB says that the fish and chips are so delicious that every time we visit The Station Hotel she will order it!

The Station Hotel‘s beer garden menu offers ‘bar bites’, ‘main meals’ and of course, steaks. My GP recently informs me that my iron levels are very low and that I need to eat red meat more regularly, so I order a bavette with greens, chips and mini pots of hollandaise and pepper sauce ($32).

My medium-rare steak is perfectly well seared with a thin crust and the 200g steak is the right portion (most steaks are 300-400g). It’s not actually on the bar menu but you can order items from the restaurant menu if you ask for it.

The steak sandwich (which is on the bar menu) is a generous double-hander stuffed with bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion.
