Quarry Park is a large park along the Maribyrnong River, near the Edwardian Footscray Park, and it’s home to an awesome mountain bike trail and skills park. It’s also the first downhill mountain bike track in Melbourne’s west!
The trails cater to a variety of cycling abilities and ages, but confident and daredevil BMX and mountain bike riders will get the most out of the park I think.
The pump track and the skills park are at the base of the hill. There is a gently ascending trail and three descending trails – two beginners trails and a technical trail and jumps trail for intermediate level riders.
Like a ski slope, the trails are marked ‘green’ for beginners and ‘blue’ for intermediate.

In addition, there is a picnic area, seating and water fountains. There’s not a lot of shade in the park but there are trees on the fringes.
Future plans for Quarry Park include more opportunities for play, walking, cycling, barbecues and community events. The park will also contain the Korean War Memorial, which will honour the Australians who served in the Korean War, 1950-53.
