Little Kids’ Day In, Scienceworks, Spotswood

Little Kids’ Day In Scienceworks is a special event held approximately each month that is aimed at kids under five.

Scienceworks is popular any day of the week but there’s a special atmosphere for Little Kids’ Day In, with one-offย activities and shows amping up the excitement for kids and carers alike.

Every month there is a different theme and during our visit it is all about creepy crawlies.

Storytime is a huge hit. The presenter has a microphone to make sure no one misses the action, and well-chosen stories accompanied by some creatively reworked songs really delight the audience.

There are creepy-crawlies (in containers, of course) as well as drawing, workshops, tours of the Pumping Station and more.

There’s also all the usual fun stuff to do, including shooting hoops and handballing in the sport area Sportsworks and the special STEM-focused area for under 5s Ground Up.

In 2021, Baby Sensoryย will be at every Little Kids’ Day In event delivering specialised sessions for babies aged 0โ€“13 months old. Baby Sensory introduces you and your baby to a world of sensory delights, where you can relax, spend quality time with each other and enjoy meeting other new parents.

Specifically designed from birth to aid your child’s development, the programme is packed with an incredible variety of sounds, smells, sights, textures, music, dance, signing and massage โ€“ and you’ll never experience the same class twice.

Little Kids’ Day In is a fun introduction toย Scienceworks if you haven’t been before, and a bonus for regular visitors who are happy to brave a bumper crowd for something new.

Little kids are free, admission for big kids (otherwise known as adults) is $15. Museum Victoria members receive free entry. Additional charges apply for the Planetarium and Lightning Room shows.
