NEW Landing Play Centre Altona North

If you live in Melbourneโ€™s west and have kids who love to climb, slide and role-play, thereโ€™s a new indoor play centre youโ€™ll want on your radar. Landing Play Centre has officially opened in Altona North, and after visiting in opening week, we can confidently sayโ€ฆ this oneโ€™s a winner.

This is the third venue from the Landing crew (following Bundoora and Ravenhall), and it feels polished, spacious and thoughtfully designed from the moment you walk in.

Landing Playcentre Altona North: Our Review

The space feels bright and modern. High ceilings. Clean lines. Clear sightlines for parents. It doesnโ€™t have that dark, overwhelming soft-play feel some older centres can have. Instead, it feels fresh.

The kids? Theyโ€™re off before youโ€™ve even found a table.

The Hero: The Light-Up Rainbow Slide

Letโ€™s start with the star of the show.

The light-up rainbow slide is impossible to miss. It glows. It shines. It calls to every child within a 10-metre radius.

My daughter lines up again and again. The slide is fast enough to feel exciting but not scary. It has that sweet spot of thrill without tears. Pro tip: head here first before the crowds build. Word spreads quickly.

Big Slides and a Giant Ball Pit

Beyond the rainbow slide, there are speedy enclosed slides and climbing zones that keep older kids moving. The layout flows well, so kids can loop through without bottlenecks.

The ball pit is generous in size and a clear favourite. Itโ€™s deep enough to be fun but still easy to supervise. Expect squeals. Expect โ€œMum, watch this!โ€ on repeat.

Upstairs: Imaginative Play Gold

Itโ€™s easy to get distracted downstairs and miss whatโ€™s upstairs. Donโ€™t.

The role-play zone is a standout. Thereโ€™s a shop setup and a car repair area that encourage proper imaginative play, not just token props. Kids settle in here. They negotiate roles. They โ€œworkโ€. They shop. They fix cars.

For children who arenโ€™t just about high-energy climbing, this space is a win.

Thereโ€™s also a timed obstacle course upstairs. This adds a competitive edge for primary school kids who love a challenge. Ours immediately turn it into a family showdown. Bragging rights are absolutely on the line.

What About Toddlers?

Yes. Theyโ€™re covered.

Thereโ€™s a dedicated baby and toddler zone designed to keep the littlest visitors safe from bigger bodies charging through. Itโ€™s enclosed, age-appropriate and far less chaotic than the main structure.

If youโ€™re visiting with mixed ages, this layout works well.

Parent Perks

Indoor play is only as good as the seating and coffee.

The cafรฉ here is proper. Not an afterthought. Thereโ€™s barista coffee, sweet treats and savoury options that make staying for lunch easy. If youโ€™re planning a longer play session, eating onsite is the obvious choice.

Thereโ€™s ample seating, and importantly, much of it has clear views into the play zones. Supervision doesnโ€™t require constant pacing.

Practical Things to Know

Hereโ€™s whatโ€™s helpful before you go:

  • Socks are required for both kids and adults.
  • No outside food or drinks are allowed (standard indoor play rules).
  • Itโ€™s well-suited to toddlers through to primary school-aged kids.
  • Birthday party rooms are available if youโ€™re planning ahead.
  • Parking can be sparse in the immediate area, so parking around the corner outside Readings Cinema is an easy walk.

Is It Worth the Visit?

Yes.

What stands out most is the balance. High-energy slides. A proper ball pit. A challenge-based obstacle course. And genuine imaginative play upstairs.

It caters to different personalities and age groups, which is often where indoor play centres fall short.

The kids genuinely donโ€™t want to leave. Thatโ€™s usually the clearest review youโ€™ll ever get.

Donโ€™t forget to check out Landing Play Centre Bundoora and Landing Play Centre Ravenhall. After you visit all three, let us know your favourite!
