Wulaba Park in Waterloo is one of Sydney’s newest parks in the Green Square area. It has been built by developers Meriton (with work from Fleetwood Urban, who have also worked at Pipemakers Park, Atherstone Playground, Pirrama Park) to provide a community gathering and play area for the residents of the surrounding high rise apartments.
The public park contains fantastic structures for older kids who are confident climbers – and who will get a thrill out of the looong slide that’s almost three storeys high!
Visually Wulaba Park has a lot of ‘wow’ factor. The rainbow colours are bright and cheerful and liven up an area with grey buildings.

The design integrates the public art by Sydney artist Nuha Saad by making the pavement and soft fall just as colourful as the equipment.
The play equipment includes a giant slide, ropes and cable climbing apparatus, nets, swings and tunnels.
A lot of it requires long legs – even some of the steps are huge!
There’s a little patch of nature play adjoining the kick-about grassy area along with some colourful giant blocks perfect for climbing and hiding.
There are even handball and table tennis courts, though Lady AB was so engaged by the playground that we didn’t even get to reach that end of the park.
Functional facilities include a public toilet, BBQ and picnic shelters and water tap. There’s a cafe around the corner.
Free and parking is available in surrounding streets and there’s bike path accessibility. Note that the park is not fenced but it is surrounded by a quiet shared car zone and buildings.
Wulaba Park is a unique and challenging adventure playground for Sydney-siders and a fun and bright destination if you’re visiting Sydney with kids. It is also one of Australia’s best playgrounds!
