Hijinx Hotel Melbourne โ€“ The Ultimate Family Challenge Experience (No PJs Required!)

Forget hotel roomsโ€”think challenge rooms, colour explosions, and giggles galore. Hijinx Hotel at QV Melbourne is here, and itโ€™s not your average check-in.

Opening 1 August 2025, Hijinx Hotel brings its signature mix of play and puzzle-solving to the heart of the city. For families with school-aged kids and tweens, this immersive entertainment experience offers something completely different: ten themed challenge rooms set up like quirky hotel suites, each with games that test your teamwork, creativity, and reflexes.

Hijinx Hotel: What to Expect

When we arrive, we feel like weโ€™re stepping into a hotelโ€”but instead of bellhops and beds, we find neon lights, ball pits, and brain-bending fun.

At Hijinx Hotel Melbourne, each booking gives your group access to five of the ten themed rooms, with four minutes to complete each one.

Expect everything from colour-matching and memory games to physical challenges on a light-up floor that reacts to your movement (spoiler: kids love this one!).

Some rooms are physical, others are puzzling, and a few are just delightfully weird. You wonโ€™t know exactly which five youโ€™ll get, so each visit feels like a new adventure.

Kid-Friendly Highlights

  • Great for groups: Each session is designed for 2โ€“6 players, making it ideal for families or a few kids and a grown-up.
  • Quick and punchy: Four minutes per room keeps the pace moving and attention spans locked in.
  • No age limit: While itโ€™s best for kids aged 6 and up, younger ones can still join in with adult helpโ€”though some challenges may be tricky.
  • Playful themes: Think art heists, emoji walls, rainbow balls, and throwback propsโ€”perfect for curious minds and little problem-solvers.

Insider Tips for Parents

  • Book ahead: Sessions are timed and popular, so pre-booking is a must.
  • Come early: Allow time to check in, explore the space, and grab a snack before you start.
  • Wear comfy shoes: Youโ€™ll be standing, crawling, and moving room to room.
  • Stroller-friendly? Not really. Best to leave prams at home or park them outside the experience zone.
  • Noise warning: It can get loud during peak timesโ€”consider bringing noise-cancelling headphones for sensitive kids.

Make It a Full Day: Archie Brothers Next Door

Once youโ€™ve tackled the challenge rooms, the fun doesnโ€™t have to stop. Right next door is Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq, a vibrant circus-themed arcade packed with claw machines, mini bowling, VR games and more.

Itโ€™s the perfect follow-up for kids who still have energy to burn and parents who want to keep the good times rolling.
