Wackadoo! The Heelers are heading back to Melbourne and beyond after last being on stage in 2022 โ and we couldnโt be more excited.
Blueyโs Big Play The Stage Show is kicking off its brand-new 2026 Australian tour in Victoria, with opening shows at Arts Centre Melbourne from 30 December 2025 โ 4 January 2026, followed by a line-up of regional performances across the state and country.

Bluey’s Big Play Review
Puppetry in motion is the name of the game with this family-friendly 50-minute performance! Itโs a full theatrical adaptation of the Emmyยฎ Award-winning TV series, complete with puppets, original music by Joff Bush, and a brand-new story from creator Joe Brumm.
This is our review of the 2022 show – though it’s a completely new story this time, you can expect much of the same experience in 2026.
The story of Bluey’s Big Play is cleverly told with basic props and set designs to mimic the hit TV show and the narrative is heartfelt, with messages about family, feelings and fitting in.
The puppeteers are well-rehearsed and really get into the physical attributes and emotions of the characters during the performance, which makes it all the more magical.
Once the lights go down and the Rosella flocks fly past, you’ll forget you are watching puppeteers and will be immersed in the story.

There are get-up-and-groove times, a LOT of sing-along opportunities and general shouting and laughter from most of the audience members throughout the 50 minutes of stage time.
Note there is no interval at this performance, but the run time is just about right for little ones while still packed with enough action to keep parents entertained too.
It’s worth staying till the end to see the special surprise!

Why Our Family Canโt Wait for Blueyโs Big Play
Like so many Aussie families, Bluey has become a staple in our household. My kids can quote entire episodes (and, honestly, so can we). The magic of Bluey is that itโs not just for the kids โ my husband and I genuinely love watching it too. The humour, the heart, the little moments of parenting truth โ it just hits differently.
So, the idea of seeing Bluey, Bingo, Bandit and Chilli live on stage? Thatโs an automatic yes from us.
While the show is advertised for children 2+ years, I think the target audience is more likely to be kids about 3-8 years old. Any secretly Bluey-obsessed parents will still get a kick out of the show!

Bluey at Arts Centre Melbourne
Tickets go on presale Wednesday 10 September 2025, with general sale opening Friday 12 September via blueylive.com.
Arts Centre Melbourne is a wonderful venue for families. Everything is signed well and there are many ushers and security personnel to help direct you to the nearest toilets, candy bars or your seats.
There are plenty of toilets, change table facilities and places to sit and snack prior to the show.
As always at these licensed shows, you can find limited-edition merchandise, plush toys and clothing available for sale before the performance.
We would absolutely recommend Bluey’s Big Play for younger kids and their adults who will be thrilled to see their favourite characters come to life!
