This April, Healesville Sanctuary, Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo are going Wild About Play!
Wild About Play is a new Zoos Victoria micro-site and app where you can create your own digital passport to navigate all the zoos’ indoor and outdoor play zones.
We are Zoos Victoria Members and regulars at all three zoos – so while we’re happy to play along with Wild About Play I assume that we’ve seen and done it all before.
Well, it turns out that I’m wrong!

Wild About Play is a great way to discover or re-discover different parts of the zoo that you may not know about. There are extra activities planned for each zone too.
At Healesville Sanctuary ALL the play experiences are new to us. We hang out like koalas at Koala Forest….
…climb the Megaluna sculpture…
….build tents….
…and dangle our feet in the creek.
Even the main playground, which we’ve visited many times before, reveals a new excavation activity in the sandpit.
Make sure you set up an account and log in before you arrive at the zoo so you’re not fumbling around with your phone at the entry gate. However, note that the app doesn’t work until the GPS locates you within one of the zoos – so you can’t upload photos to the digital passport when you’re away from the zoos.

To play:
- Head to Melbourne Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary or Werribee Open Range Zoo from Friday 30 March until Monday 3o April 2018.
- Go to the Wild About Play website and use the digital passport to find the play zones.
- Take a photo at the play zone and share it to Facebook via the digital passport for your chance to WIN a family trip to Kangaroo Island.
