HOT: Trees Adventure, Yeodene Park

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Go swinging through the treetops like Tarzan! Trees Adventure Yeodene Park is a tree ropes course and zip line outdoor experience set amongst the native bushland of the Otway Forest at Yeodene.

Trees Adventure Yeodene

It is similar to Live Wire Park except not as high and not as big. In particular, the easiest circuit is a lot lower and shorter than at Live Wire Park so it’s a good park for young kids.

We start off with a safety briefing and test run of how to use the interlocking safety system and zip line. Each person is given gloves as the climbing frames are often steel wire, not rope. As you are secured and attached at all times you can tackle challenges feeling safe.

The actual Climb Zone is about a five-minute walk from the carpark so is secluded from traffic noise. There are eight courses to choose from, all starting at the enormous ‘Home Tree’.

Trees Adventure Yeodene

Each course is made up of wobbling wooden bridges, tight ropes, cargo nets, ziplines and more!

The courses become increasingly difficult as you climb higher into the canopy, which means that you can find the right level to suit you.

For climbers 4-7 years there is a Yellow course, which is mostly 1-2 metres off the ground. It is two relatively low rope climbs, each with eleven challenges and two zip lines. Children need to be fully supervised by an adult on the ground at all times and adults are not allowed on the course.

During our 2.5 hour session (including training), the kids get to complete each Yellow course three times, which is just enough for them to get faster and more confident each time, but not so long that they are bored.

Children from 8+ years are able to complete the Green and Blue courses which are higher up in the trees and of longer duration. Children 10+ years can complete the Red course. The Green, Blue and Red courses require one participating adult per four children under 12 years old – so while Lady AB is 8 years old because I’m alone with a 6yo and 8yo she has to do the Yellow course too.

Climbers who are 13+ years and already completed the Red Course can do the hardest Black course which is twenty metres off the ground!

If you’re a supervising adult or spectator and not climbing you don’t have to pay. It also means that you’re the designated cheerleader/photographer/keeper of bags.

Trees Adventure Yeodene Park is a fantastic activity to burn off some energy when you visit the Otway Ranges. Other attractions close by include the Redwood Forest and the Otway Fly, so you can make the region a fantastically fun nature-based trip.
