The new playground design highlights the park’s natural bush environment.

The play equipment is set amongst the existing trees as well as creating a creek area for water and sand play.

The water play area is large, even though there’s not a lot of equipment. You’ll find a pump (which is very tight to turn at the moment but I’m advised that the leather washer in it will soften with use), water rivulets running along an eel sculpture and a dam gate.

The water leads into the large sandpit which is also bounded by a snake sculpture.

There are lots of opportunities to climb as part of the main structure and on equipment that’s separately located in other areas.

Dotted amongst the play equipment are lovely, huggable carved animal sculptures…

Finally there’s a small see-saw and a bank of swings, including a face-to-face expressions swing and several normal swings.

Note that the playground is next to the lake and there is no fencing. So if your little ones are prone to run off then be vigilant around the water.

Otherwise the water’s edge will get you close to the resident ducks and the rocks are a very relaxing place to sit.

Shade is provided thanks to the natural bushland surroundings and the metal slides should not get too hot as they are covered.

Families can make use of the many benches and there is a large picnic shelter with free barbecues. There are numerous public toilets and a water tap.

Ringwood Lake Park is an outstanding playground set in amongst the park’s bushland. It’s big enough to make it a destination if you’re not local.

Within the 8.5 hectare park you’ll also find a sound shell, mining history display and a walking circuit.

If you need to eat or some indoor play then Eastland’s Town Square eateries and indoor playspaces, plus the library at REALM, is just up the road.
