[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Can’t be bothered cooking tonight? Then follow the trail of food trucks to Melbourne Street Eatz!
Melbourne Street Eatz is a roving, mobile open-air food festival with a rotating calendar of gourmet food trucks, entertainment and amusements. It’s famous for its informal atmosphere that’s fantastically family-friendly.
The $5 entry (with proceeds going to RSPCA Victoria) gets you access to food trucks, a bar, an outdoor cinema (though the movies are shown on silent), live music, cooking classes, eating competition, carnival rides and even pony rides – all to the backdrop of the Maribyrnong River. Note if you don’t want to eat there you still have to pay the entry fee. Children under 12 years are free.
There are lots of seating options, with day beds and lounges ingeniously constructed from hay bales, wooden pallets and cushions, as well as bean bags and tables with umbrellas which are in high demand. There’s plenty of room to park prams.

To keep the little (and big) kids entertained there are lawn games such as Giant Connect 4, a foozball table and ping pong tables. Or you can simply play chasey as there’s plenty of grass!
If you have kids it pays to go early, as when it gets busy the food is slower to come and you will need to queue. There’s something for everyone and the relaxed atmosphere is perfect for a family-friendly day or night out. On our visit, there is everything from tacos to waffles!
As it’s a pop up there’s not a lot of shade or shelter, so wear a hat and sunscreen if you’re going in the early afternoon.
Melbourne Street Eatz travels to various locations throughout Melbourne – follow them on Facebook and Instagram to see where they’re heading next!
