The Megasaurus playground is one play space that little dinosaur lovers won’t be able to resist! The unique dinosaur-themed playground is located at Livingstone, a housing estate at Cranbourne East and has been nominated as one of Australia’s best playgrounds.
The bespoke equipment has been designed with distinctive dinosaur shapes in mind and uses metal and wood to create a tactile, natural feel.
A pterodactyl holds up the nest swing and the metal scales form a little cubby house….
…A huge 25m long brontosaurus houses a long flying fox underneath its long body….

…a 20m long dinosaur skeleton is a three part climbing structure with ropes, footholds and a grassy tail for sliding/running down or up…
….stegosaurus scales with metal nodules for climbing and noise-making spinning handles…
The area has been landscaped with nature play areas featuring a dry creek bed, low bushes, logs, rocks for clambering over and pebbles. There’s also a big kick-about grassy area right next to the play area.
The vertical tree logs, salvaged from a paddock that was being cleared just prior to construction commencing, create a stark sculptural landscape.
I’d say that while toddlers will still enjoy the space most of the equipment is aimed at older children. The climbing ropes are spaced far apart (Baby 2.0 just happens to be an expert fearless climber at 3 years old!) and the flying fox and climbing frames are high.
There is a large picnic/BBQ shelter and bench seats and water taps on site but no toilets. It was very quiet on our visit on a weekday so plenty of parking very close by.
