Nestled in the lush Otway Ranges, Live Wire Park in Lorne is a must-visit destination for adventure seekers of all ages.
Known as Australiaโs only off-the-grid outdoor adventure park, Live Wire Park combines heart-pounding fun with eco-friendly innovation. Powered entirely by solar energy and utilising a sustainable water system, itโs a haven for adrenaline junkies and nature lovers alike.
What to Expect at Live Wire Park Lorne
Live Wire Park offers a range of circuits that let you zip, climb, and glide through the treetops. Whether youโre a beginner or a seasoned thrill-seeker, thereโs something for everyone.
At Live Wire Park you can glide, zip and climb through the Otway treetops on each of the parkโs circuits.
All sessions start with a safety briefing and training where you are taught how to attach yourself to the climbs so as not to fall.
The Short Circuit
Perfect for younger adventurers or beginners, the Short Circuit is a one-hour course with four obstacle paths. Donโt be fooled by its nameโthis circuit offers plenty of challenges, featuring 26 individual activities designed to build confidence and test agility.
Repeating the courses is encouraged to help kids and first-timers master the techniques and gain confidence.
The Shockwave Zip Coaster
Looking for a rush without the effort? The 525-metre-long Shockwave Zip Coaster is the answer. Known as Australiaโs most extreme zip line, this ride lets you soar through the treetops while enjoying breathtaking views.
Itโs perfect for teens and adults who might shy away from climbingโjust sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. Even the most hesitant visitors canโt help but cheer as they zip through the forest at high speed.
Itโs also a good idea to repeat the obstacle courses a few times to gain confidence.
The Canopy Circuit
For a more relaxed experience, the 120-metre Canopy Circuit offers a leisurely stroll among the treetops.
This elevated pathway provides a unique perspective of the surrounding rainforest.
However, be aware that the narrow, steep dirt tracks leading to the walkway may not be suitable for prams or wheelchairs despite being advertised as accessible.
The highest level is REALLY high off the ground and rather hair-raising for me standing on the ground, watching.
Both Baby 2.0 and Lady AB finish all the courses with big smiles and a huge sense of achievement. I certainly know that I couldnโt do what they did!
Older kids and adults can complete the high-intensity Super Circuit which includes fifty-three challenging activities over 2 hours.
Test your endurance while swinging on ropes, scaling trees and taking the plunge in a 10m QuickJump bungee, whilst putting your brain to the test with problem-solving puzzles.
Finally, take a trip along Australiaโs most extreme zip line, the 525-metre-long Shockwave Zip Coaster.
While itโs high and long, itโs actually the best option for teens and adults who are usually scared of heights, as you donโt have to do anything other than sitting back and looking at the view. The woman at the counter describes it as โthe most fun youโll have doing nothingโ!
The last activity is a leisurely 120m long Canopy Circuit suspended pathway and an elevated experience, the Spring Circuit.
Itโs advertised as being fully accessible but there is a narrow, steep, dirt track at the beginning and end of the actual walkway, so I canโt see how itโd be suitable for heavy prams and wheelchairs.
The Spring Circuit
Families will love the playful Spring Circuit. Elevated five metres above the ground, this series of netted zones and walkways features trampolines and giant ballsโperfect for kids and parents to unwind together.
Relax in the treetop pods and soak in the serene environment while the kids burn off energy.
Live Wire Park is a highlight of our visit to Lorne and the kids are keen to return. As they get older there will be more challenges for them to tackle and I might even try out the Shockwave Zip Coaster!
