Little Amigos Highpoint Review: Role Play, Slides and a Cafe for Parents

Little Amigos Highpoint is an indoor play centre and cafe on Level 3 of Highpoint Shopping Centre, with role play zones, slides, a big ball pit and a full cafe menu.

Little Amigos Highpoint is bigger than it looks from the entrance. Little D and I walk in expecting a few slides and a ball pit, and find a whole play world of role play areas, dress ups, a train ride and more slides than we can count. The animal doctor is her favourite.

This review covers what kids can do, how entry pricing works, what the cafe offers and who gets the most out of a visit. I also share the one thing I’d tell any parent before booking: plan your food budget, because it’s hard to visit without ordering.

What to Expect at Little Amigos Highpoint

The play space at Little Amigos is split into zones, so kids can wander from pretend play to climbing and sliding without bumping into one another. It’s all indoors, which makes it a handy option for hot days, wet days and school holidays.

Kids aged 1 to 12 pay for a set block of play time. Adults pay a flat $5, and that covers a drink or takes $5 off breakfast or lunch. Everyone needs socks to play (you can purchase some for $5 at the counter).

The cafe sits right beside the play area, so you can keep an eye on your kids while you eat.

Highlights for Kids

Role play areas

This is where Little D spends a lot of her time. The role-play zones are the best part of Little Amigos Highpoint for kids who love pretend play.

  • Animal doctor: kids look after toy animals and help them feel better
  • Dress ups: a rack of costumes to try on
  • Make up play area: pretend makeovers
  • Shopping area: kids fill baskets and trolleys and play shopkeeper
  • Cooking area: the Little Chefs’ Kitchen, where kids prepare and serve pretend meals

The venue also has a fishing area and swings.

Ball pit and slides

The big ball pit is a hit, and the rainbow slide gets plenty of turns. There are lots of slides to choose from, so kids can try a few different ones instead of queuing for a favourite. The ball pit also has an interactive ball tower, hoops and a glowing tunnel.

The train ride

The small train ride costs extra, and it’s quite fun. Toy animals pop their heads up along the track like a real safari. Ask the team about the current price when you arrive, as it isn’t listed on the website.

The Cafe

The menu has lots of options, and parents get proper meals too. I order a protein bowl with salmon, and it’s tasty.

The menu lists breakfast, lunch, small bites, kids meals and sweet treats. Highlights include pancakes, battered fish tacos, udon noodle soup, spaghetti bolognese, a beef burger, kids pizza and kids nuggets and chips.

With this much choice, it’s hard to leave without ordering something. Budget for a meal on top of entry, especially if you stay a while.

Is It Worth Visiting?

Yes, if your child loves pretend play. The role play areas are the main drawcard, and the slides and ball pit give kids a chance to burn off energy.

Best ages: the role play zones suit toddlers through to younger primary school kids. Babies can come along, and entry is free under 6 months.

Time needed: the 90 minute pass is a good starting point. Choose a longer pass if you plan to eat a full meal or your kids are happy to play for hours.

Value for money: the entry price is only part of the cost. Add the adult fee, a meal, and the train ride, and a visit can climb quickly. Weekday visits cost a little less than weekends.

Things to know:

  • Socks are required, so pack a spare pair
  • The train ride costs extra
  • It’s hard to visit without buying food, so budget for it
  • Weekend and public holiday prices are higher
