The LEGO Education Learning Centre in Docklands is run by Moore Education, a company that provides schools with LEGO education resources to explore how robotics, mechanisms, renewable energy and creative construction work through hands-on LEGO play.

The LEGO Education Centre is only open for school excursions and corporate events during school term but during school holidays itโs open to the public for their school holiday program for 4+ years.
I booked Lady AB in for โCity Moversโ, a 45 minute workshop using LEGO Duplo Tech Machines aimed at 4-6 year olds. You can drop off your child at the centre but I chose to stay with Lady AB – and Iโm glad I did because it was SO much fun!
The session started with a short story time that tied together all the different things we were going to build. The kids were itching to get to the LEGO tables but were very patient listening to the story.

Then they were shown how to use the LEGO Duplo Tech Machines, which use a special screwdriver to attach pieces together securely. Lady AB and I had great fun manipulating the screwdriver and building our outrageous construction vehicles.

The kids were then instructed to build a city using giant LEGO bricks and everyone set about busily building bridges and towers and tunnels.

Then the best bit…each child was given a remote control and instructed to drive their vehicle around the city! It was so thrilling to watch these vehicles move and wonderful to see the satisfaction on these little kidsโ faces as their creations came to life.
The session went by very quickly and we were both sad to leave afterwards. I think itโs good value for $12 as the kids get to play, learn about construction, listen and work together. I canโt wait to go back! (Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find theย LEGO Duplo Tech Machinesย that comes with the remote control for sale as it’s an old model – can anyone help?)
Note thereโs plenty of parking at Harbour Town and metered parking on the street plus itโs easily accessible from the CBD via tram.
