HOT: Kids ArtyFarty Fest, Heidelberg

We love a free community festival and the Banyule City Council Kids ArtyFarty Fest is one of the biggest and the best festivals for creative kids! In 2020 the festival is on Sunday 15 March.

Every year the Kids ArtyFarty Fest is kicked off by the Grand Parade from 10-11am which travels down Burgundy Street Heidelberg in a flurry of colourful banners.

This year’s theme for the Grand Parade is Team Spirit 2020! Teams of all types, shapes and sizes are invited to register to participate in the celebration of community.

Community groups from the parade then arrive at Sills Bend Park by the Yarra River in Heidelberg, ready for a full day of family entertainment from 11am to 4pm.

You don’t have to join the parade to enter the festival – it’s fine to head straight to Sills Bend. It’s probably a bit easier with parking if you arrive early too, though I highly recommend arriving by bike!

There’s so much to do that it’s unlikely you’ll be able to try everything – so grab a map, schedule and Festival Passport from the info tent on arrival to plan your day.

At Kids ArtyFarty Fest you can expect free activities, workshops and performances throughout the day, designed to engage kids and adults’ imagination and creativity.

There are also lots of opportunities for people to get active! In fact, these are some of the most popular activities so I’d recommend finding those sites first before the queues get too long.

The ropes course and other activities by Scouts are at the back of the festival site on our visit.
