[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Enjoy great food, a relaxed ambience and lots of family-friendly features on your next trip to the Yarra Valley!
Innocent Bystander Yarra Valley is a stunning child-friendly eatery on the main street of Healesville. It also acts as the cellar door for Innocent Bystander wines where you can taste test the Innocent Bystander range of wines and cider.
The huge space splits into a dining area, outdoor deck and lounge area. The inside seating is much more appealing than the outside, which overlooks a large car park. The floor to ceiling windows provide plenty of light indoors.
A long glossy bar dominates the room. The whole range of Innocent Bystander wines are served fresh from tapped kegs. It’s the same wine as in the bottles, just served by the glass or carafe.

Innocent Bystander’s website says ‘We love little people. Our space is to be enjoyed by everyone and families are welcome.’ Certainly when we visit the dining room in the early evening most of the clientele are families.
There is pram access, high chairs, a disabled toilet with change facilities and a children’s menu. The main menu also has sharing plates and some of the smaller dishes may be suitable for smaller tummies.
The menu is meant to be paired with wine and uses local Yarra Valley ingredients. They are famous for their pizza and paella.
The kids share a wood-fired margherita pizza ($24) while I enjoy a tasty, crusty seafood paella straight out of the pan ($29).
For dessert we share the ‘Little Cones of Joy’. They are not actually ice cream cones, they are waffle cones of dessert with a choice of fillings. We try all four: Baked cheesecake with blueberries; Lemon meringue; Berry and white chocolate mousse and Chocolate brownie with peanut butter ($18).
Innocent Bystander is a stylish location for a relaxing lunch or dinner in the Yarra Valley. The all-day kitchen means that you can eat as early or late as you need to suit kids. On busy days I recommend booking ahead.
Across the carpark from Innocent Bystander is the more high-end Giant Steps cellar door and restaurant. Depending on the age of your children it’s also a space that accommodates kids if Innocent Bystander is booked out.
