HOT: Santa’s Christmas Cookies with Festive Fairy Dust

Santa's Christmas Cookies with Festive Fairy Dust

Christmas baking is an annual ritual that Lady AB and I partake in every year. Itโ€™s a great way to give gifts with thought and a delicious way to spend time together.

This year we were gifted with a range of McCormick spices with which to make our own Christmas creations. One of the cute ideas they suggested was using their range to create โ€˜Festive Fairy Dustโ€™ to sprinkle into a plain biscuit mix for โ€˜Santaโ€™s Christmas Cookiesโ€™.

Santa's Christmas Cookies with Festive Fairy Dust

Santaโ€™s Christmas Cookies (makes approx 42 small cookies)

  • 250g butter chopped
  • 250g caster sugar (I used 125g of Natvia instead)
  • 1 x 60g egg
  • 1tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 tbsp Festive Fairy Dust
  • ยฝ tsp salt

For Festive Fairy Dust

1 tsp each of any combination of 4 of your favourite Christmas spices, mixed together. We used vanillan sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger but you could also try allspice, cinnamon sugar, mixed spice orย cloves.

1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Line baking trays with silicone mat or baking paper.

2. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla extract and continue beating.

3. Add flour, Festive Fairy Dust and salt and continue beating until mixed in.

4.ย Roll dough into ยฝ tablespoon balls and line up on the baking trays. Use a fork to flatten each one a little. Note we tried to roll the dough to cut out shapes but this dough is too soft for cutting.

5. Bake for 10-12 mins until golden. Cool on rack then store in airtight container.

Letting little ones choose their own spices to create a Festive Fairy Dust is a fun idea which is easy to replicate at home. You could even assemble your own gift pack for a budding baker – just include jars of spice, a little sachet for the Festive Fairy dust and instructions all packaged up in a cute gift box.
