This #FoodieFriday has been taken over by my good friend Karishma Kasabia and her baby boy Aru. Karishma is the creative founder and director at Kish+C and blogs about her parenting journey at An Honest Womanhood.

Thanks so much for having me on the blog J! If any of your readers have more questions about the location, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Happy to answer them as best as I can.

Last week, Aru and I visited the Cubbyhouse Canteen in Armadale. He was sick, I was sick. We wanted to be outdoors and I’m a bit too used to the parks nearby now.

This felt like a total adventure. For proof, see picture of Aru in a shirt with a collar. Ok onto it…

Cubbyhouse Canteen is perfectly located with ample parking nearby and if you’re cooler than cool, you can bring your tennis racquet and book the courts in advance. Whilst the address is on Union Street, easiest entrance is from Orchard Street.

The staff are super lovely and totally used to the child thing, so snotty noses and food on the floor doesn’t phase them. Their food is also baby and toddler friendly, Aru had some banana bread and the foam off my chai latte (he loves it).

It’s a great place to meet other mums, I met a woman who shared her child’s ciabatta with Aru. (Yes, my son is happy to pick up your baby’s food from the floor and really chomp it down. Embarrassing, but he’s so cute, I don’t really care).

Unfortunately, the vegetarian menu isn’t extensive so I ordered the tortilla and they kindly replaced the salmon with roasted pumpkin and eggplant. Without an eyebrow raise. I have to be honest about the food here – it was okay. I want to rave about it because I will be back and the over all experience won me over, but if you’re going for an amazing meal, hold your horses. Their sweet treats are much yummier and their chai latte too.

Cubbyhouse Canteen is that place you can call a haven for arvos with a chai and a decadent treat. It’s perfect for the kids with a proper park-playground and child friendly staff. They’re genuine and I appreciated it.

Do it. Especially if you’re South-side. Get some calm in the sun and I’m sure you won’t regret it.
