Henry and the Fox: A CBD Favourite for Families

When it comes to kid-friendly restaurants in Melbourneโ€™s CBD, Henry and the Fox is one that the Tot team keeps coming back to. Weโ€™ve visited many times with kids in tow and always had a great experience. Between the spacious layout, thoughtful facilities, and extensive menu, itโ€™s a spot that works just as well for family brunch as it does for a midweek dinner.

Why Families Love Henry and the Fox

One of the biggest drawcards for parents is the enclosed Astroturf courtyard out the front. Itโ€™s covered, heated, and feels safe for crawlers and toddlers to potter about while you relax over a coffee or meal.

Inside, the dining room is roomy enough to easily accommodate prams, and thereโ€™s a selection of high chairs, change facilities, and even a few toys to keep little ones occupied.

Unlike many CBD venues, Henry and the Fox doesnโ€™t feel cramped or rushed. The relaxed service and open layout mean you can settle in without feeling like youโ€™re in anyoneโ€™s wayโ€”a huge plus when youโ€™ve got kids in tow.

Whatโ€™s on the Henry and the Fox menu for families?

We think the menu at Henry and the Fox is one of the most versatile in the city. While thereโ€™s no dedicated kidsโ€™ section, the kitchen offers a wide range of large and small plates so itโ€™s easy to find something to suit children of all ages.

From hearty pies and oven-baked gnocchi to pizzas and salads, thereโ€™s always plenty to share.

Youโ€™ll also find weekly specials that keep things interestingโ€”think Steak Frites Mondays, $15 Sizzle Plates on Tuesdays, and indulgent Gnocchi Fridays. If youโ€™re after something sweet, the desserts are worth saving room for (our team has fond memories of the bread and butter pudding).

Weโ€™ve tested out the weekly specials more than once. The Tuesday sizzle plates are a hit with the adults, and the pizza afternoons are always popular with the kids

For drinks, thereโ€™s the usual coffee, juice and soft drinks for kids, alongside a thoughtful seasonal drinks list for parents. In winter, their hot Milo spiked with Baileys or toffee-apple mulled cider is hard to beat.
