HOT: Harmony Garden, Point Park, Docklands

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Yarra’s Edge is a residential development in Docklands on the north-facing banks of the Yarra and Point Park is the green centrepiece of the precinct. It’s an environmentally sustainable parkland featuring rain gardens and water storage cells cleverly concealed within the design.

Inside Point Park is an excellent playground called Harmony Garden built by the site’s developers Mirvac in collaboration with Simon Ellis Landscape Architects and artists Neil McLachlan and Emilia Storm.

The playground is set out with different play spaces, including nature play, water play and musical instruments. It’s surrounded by native plants and soon-to-blossom trees, giving the space an appealing natural aesthetic.

It includes traditional play equipment like a plastic double slide, a double swing and merry-go-round. But my kids were more interested in the more unusual elements….

The playground also has several picnic benches, two barbecues and public toilets on site.

The area is next to a bike and walking track and has million-dollar views of the Yarra and Docklands’ building sites, which means that if your kids tire of the playground there’s still lots to enjoy – all those dogs, cranes, boats and bikes to watch!

Lady AB and Baby 2.0 also just love running around the expansive lawn, playing Jack and Jill on the high mounds.

Note while the water’s close the playground is not right on the edge – there’s a walking path and garden before you get to the river.
