FROSTED โ€“ A Winter Spectacular Melbourne 2026

A magical Christmas-in-winter experience packed with play zones, shows and festive fun for young kids.

As Aussies, weโ€™re used to sun-drenched Christmas days filled with prawns, backyard cricket and beach tripsโ€”but it does mean we miss out on that cosy, magical winter feeling the rest of the world gets. Thatโ€™s why Christmas in July events like this are such a treat, giving families a chance to experience a little bit of that frosty festive magic right here in Melbourne.

Weโ€™re excited to hear FROSTED โ€“ A Winter Spectacular is back for 2026โ€”and itโ€™s shaping up to be even bigger. We love events that are designed with younger kids in mind, and this one ticks all the boxes: interactive play, familiar characters, hands-on activities and a cosy indoor setting. Itโ€™s an easy, weather-proof outing during the winter school holidays.

What is FROSTED โ€“ A Winter Spectacular?

Running from 19 June to 19 July 2026, FROSTED โ€“ A Winter Spectacular transforms a heated big top in Narre Warren into a festive, winter-themed wonderland.

Think Christmasโ€ฆ but make it winter. Snowy scenes, festive characters and plenty of sparkle. Itโ€™s designed especially for families with younger children (best suited to kids under 10), with a strong focus on interactive fun rather than just watching from the sidelines.

Everything is set up under cover, which is a huge win for Melbourne winters.

Where is it held?

The Winter Spectacular event takes place under a heated Big Top opposite Westfield Fountain Gate.

This makes it a super convenient outing. Youโ€™ve got easy parking, shops and cafรฉs right nearbyโ€”perfect if you want to turn it into a half-day outing or grab a coffee before or after your session.

What can kids expect?

Thereโ€™s a lot packed into this experience, and itโ€™s very hands-on. Kids are encouraged to move, play and get involved.

Here are some of the highlights:

Play and activity zones

  • Inflatable slide and ball pit
  • Frosty-themed jumping castles
  • Winter mini golf course (simple and kid-friendly)
  • Artificial ice-skating rink

Creative and hands-on fun

  • Winter craft corner
  • Biscuit decorating at Rudolfโ€™s Bakery
  • Painting activities (including themed designs kids will recognise)

Meet-and-greets and photo ops

  • Meet the Snow Queen
  • Spend time with Mrs Claus
  • Character appearances and photo opportunities throughout the session

Live entertainment

  • Interactive shows featuring favourite characters
  • Plenty of energy to keep younger kids engaged

Kids can bounce between activities rather than sit stillโ€”which, honestly, makes a big difference.

Why it works for families

Events like this can go either way, but this one feels thoughtfully designed for younger kids.

  • Itโ€™s fully undercover and heated โ€“ no worrying about rain or freezing temperatures
  • Short attention spans are catered for โ€“ lots of small activities instead of one long show
  • Interactive over passive โ€“ kids can play, create and explore
  • Recognisable characters โ€“ always a win with preschool and early primary ages

If youโ€™ve got kids who love soft play, craft, and a bit of festive magic, this will likely land well.

Tips for visiting with kids

A few practical things to know before you go:

  • Book ahead โ€“ sessions are limited and likely to sell out during school holidays
  • Arrive early โ€“ gives you more time to explore before it gets busy
  • Dress in layers โ€“ itโ€™s heated, but still winter
  • Bring socks โ€“ especially for inflatable and play zones
  • Plan your session โ€“ let kids start with their โ€œmust-doโ€ activities first
