$25
GDV Community Fair

For one day, on Saturday 18 April, Guide Dogs Victoria will open its Kew campus to the public, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at how the organisation supports people who are blind or have low vision.

Visitors can explore the grounds while enjoying live entertainment, food stalls, family activities and a dedicated kids’ zone.

Event highlights include

  • Live Guide Dog training demonstrations
  • Accessible sporting experiences, from blind tennis and footy drills to golf simulators
  • Blind and low vision art exhibition, featuring the creative work of artists with lived experience
  • Interactive accessibility experiences including cane travel and human guide techniques
  • Accessible cooking demonstrations
  • Storytelling sessions with Guide Dogs clients and authors
  • Learn the basics of braille
  • Kids’ zone, food stalls and live entertainment

It takes over two years and costs more than $50,000 to breed, raise and train each Guide Dog. Like all of the organisation’s services, Guide Dogs are provided at no cost to those who need them. Every ticket purchased helps support the life-changing services provided by Guide Dogs Victoria.
