[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Don’t Mess With The Dummies is a brand-new show by the award-winning Dummies Corp that’s taking centre stage at the Famous Spiegeltent during 2019 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
The Melbourne Comedy Festival program always features plenty of great options for families, and Don’t Mess With The Dummies is sure to be a favourite this year with kids and their adults. We are invited to review one of their early shows.
The show features an all-female ensemble made up of Ellen Henry, Maya Tregonning and Shona Conacher, who mix their breathtaking circus skills with impressive comic timing.
It’s driven by slapstick and physical comedy, which suits the predominantly young audience just fine! There’s juggling, hula hoops, skipping shenanigans, shadow puppetry and much more, including a hilarious rendition of The Lion Sleeps Tonight performed by … sleeping bags!
It can be a little hard for youngsters to see depending on the height of the people in front of them, so it’s definitely worth arriving a bit early to get a better position as a lot of the performance is at ground level rather than on an elevated stage.
Don’t Mess With The Dummies keeps every child entertained for the full 60 minutes, which is a testament to the skill of the acrobats. There are plenty of “Wow!” moments to keep the audience completely engaged, and some well-aimed jokes just for adults’ amusement.
Dummies Corp have won a raft of awards around the world in the past five years, and their latest show will keep their shining reputation well and truly intact.
For the winter school holidays Don’t Mess With The Dummies is showing at Gasworks Arts Park on Wednesday 10 July along with a circus skills workshop.
