Deep Creek Eco Play is an award-winning all-abilities playground at Deep Creek Reserve in Pakenham boasting an undercover water park of your children’s dreams.
Judging by its popularity on a sunny weekday, the locals absolutely love this Pakenham park!

Pride of place in the centre of the playground at Deep Creek Reserve Pakenham is a giant dragonfly structure. It is not only artistic, but a great place to climb, crawl under and explore. You can even hide inside its eyes!
Another feature that instantly grabs your attention is the extra-large split-level sandpit. Sandpits are always a big hit with Miss 4 and Little Miss 3, and this one is no exception. The raised level on this one is the perfect height for mum and dad to play with the kids without needing to actually get into the sandpit. So this gets a big tick from me! It also means that it is wheelchair accessible.
Then there’s the big basket swing up on the hill by the lookout, a liberty swing, and something called a lily pad swing that Miss 4, Little Miss 3 and Master 1 all love.
I’m not even going to pretend to know what some of the equipment does!….
… but there is a spinner, music hub, single slide, accessible slide and sensory garden.
The paths throughout the playground are a combination of timber, concrete, stepping stones and loose pebbles, making it an exciting place to explore by foot or bike.
Plus there is an abundance of soft-fall surrounding the dragonfly hub, which is perfect for crawlers.
And if you do pack your bikes, the wheelchair slalom course is bound to be a hit! Note, however, that the loose pebbles on the track make it not so suitable for scooters.

Despite all this new and unique equipment, everyone’s favourite is clearly the water play area. This Pakenham water park is protected from the sun under a permanent shade structure and features a myriad of channels, dips and sprinklers. It was 31° by mid-morning of our visit and every child there is wet and happy.
If you’re planning to visit the playground I strongly recommend packing a spare set of clothes, or as Miss 4 requested “swimmers next time please mummy”. The kids won’t be able to resist playing in the water! Honestly, the water play area alone will keep them entertained for hours.
In terms of facilities, there are free BQs and picnic tables, also under shelter, plus water taps and public toilets. It’s also a fully fenced playground for those of you with runners!
You could easily spend a whole day at this Pakenham playground (especially in hot weather). Deep Creek Reserve has walking tracks if you’re keen for more exploring around Deep Creek park and outside the playground is Cardinia Community and Education Centre (with a café).
Deep Creek Eco Play is one of the best parks in Pakenham and definitely worth a visit!
