‘Cubbies’ Fitzroy Adventure Playground is one of only five staffed adventure playgrounds in Melbourne and the only one in the inner north (the others are in South Melbourne, St Kilda, Kensington and Prahran).
Cubbies aims to provide a safe “backyard” for children at the nearby Atherton Garden housing estate and its run by Save the Children Australia. It is also open to the public during its operating hours.

The site is a junkyard playground cobbled together with recycled materials and parts. There are lots of opportunities for creativity and imaginative play.
At the heart of the playspace is a spectacular structure with 25 electricity-generating solar panels.
Baby 2.0 loves climbing up the structure, as well as swinging on ropes and whizzing down slides.
There are rope nets, cubbies, a vegetable patch and enough space for ball games.
Most of the equipment is suited to older kids and children under 5 must be supervised by an adult.
During opening hours staff run activity programs for children in the playground or in the clubhouse.
