BrewDog Pentridge Coburg: Craft Beer + Family-Friendly Fun

Looking for a chilled-out spot to grab drinks and some food while the kids are happily entertained?

BrewDog Pentridge in Coburg might just be your new go-to.

This isnโ€™t your average Melbourne brewery. Housed inside a historic bluestone building that was once part of Pentridge Prison, this massive brewpub is one of the most unique spots in Melbourne to enjoy a cold oneโ€”with the whole family in tow. Itโ€™s a wild mix of the old and the newโ€”history buffs will love it.

BrewDog Pentridge Coburg – What to expect

With its roots in Scotland, BrewDog is a name many craft beer lovers know and love.

Their only Melbourne brewery (so far) is huge, with 500 seats spread across multiple rooms, plus a beer garden for sunny days.

The industrial-chic vibe pairs beautifully with the old prison structureโ€”think high ceilings, exposed beams and loads of space for prams or a quick toddler chase-down.

They pour 24 different beers on tap, including house-brewed faves and local legends from other craft breweries in Melbourne.

Not into beer? No worries. Thereโ€™s wine, cocktails and non-alcoholic options, too.

A Beer Garden Made for Melbourne Families

On a warm day, the beer garden Melbourne northside locals rave about really comes alive. We reckon itโ€™s one of the best beer gardens in Melbourne for families!

Thereโ€™s loads of outdoor seating, shady spots, and room for little ones to stretch their legs.

Parents can grab a table, a paddle of beers and settle in while the kids play giant Connect 4 or arcade games.

Itโ€™s casual, easy-going, and relaxedโ€”exactly what you want on a Sunday afternoon.

Oh, and dogs are welcome too. Bring the whole crew!

Family-Friendly Menu and Kids Options

BrewDog Pentridge goes above and beyond with a menu that caters to all tastes.

Choose from s a selection of burgers, wings, wood-fired pizzas and big bowl salads that you can easily share. Half of the menu offers gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options.

Thereโ€™s a dedicated kidsโ€™ menu with smaller portions of burger, nuggets, fish bites or falafels with chips and a drink.

Parents will appreciate the specials that pop up during the weekโ€”like all you can eat wings on Wednesdays and discounted drinks every Monday to Friday 3-5pm. Yes, please.

What Youโ€™ll Love as a Parent

Not every bar is built with families in mind. But BrewDog Pentridge makes it work. Hereโ€™s what stands out for parents:

  • Pram-friendly layout with wide aisles and easy access.
  • High chairs and change facilities in the bathrooms.
  • Roomy outdoor spaces for kids to roam, plus arcade games, lawn games to keep them entertained..
  • Great food and drink options for all ages. I highly recommend their pizzas (kids size or adult sized!). When we visited on an early Friday night the food came out surprisingly quickly too.

When to Go

BrewDog Pentridge is open seven days for lunch and dinner. Weekends are the most busy so I recommend booking ahead, especially if youโ€™re bringing the family crew. Weekdays work well if youโ€™ve got younger kids and want to avoid the crowds.
