World-First Bluey Exhibition Coming to Melbourne in 2027 — Here’s Everything You Need to Know

If you’ve got Bluey fans at home, brace yourself — this is big.

A world-first Bluey exhibition is heading to Melbourne’s ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) in mid-2027, and it sounds absolutely incredible.

We’re talking the first ever museum exhibition dedicated to Bluey, anywhere in the world. And it’s premiering right here in our own backyard.

What Is the Bluey ACMI Exhibition?

ACMI has partnered with BBC Studios and Ludo Studio — the multi-award-winning Brisbane team behind the show — to create an immersive, behind-the-scenes exhibition celebrating the making of Bluey.

This isn’t a merchandise pop-up or a theme park setup. It’s a museum exhibition, designed and built locally by ACMI in close collaboration with the people who make Bluey.

Think original artwork, storytelling insights, and a deep dive into the creative process that’s given us Flat Pack, The Creek, and enough emotional gut-punches in just 7 minutes.

ACMI holds exclusive global rights to the exhibition, which means Melbourne gets it first — and then it travels the world.

When and Where Is the Bluey Exhibition?

Opening: Mid-2027 Location: ACMI, Federation Square, Melbourne CBD

Exact dates and ticketing details haven’t been announced yet — ACMI has said those will be revealed later this year. Sign up to ACMI’s mailing list if you want to be first to know.

Who Made The Bluey Exhibition?

ACMI

ACMI is Australia’s national museum of screen culture, based in Federation Square in Melbourne’s CBD. They’ve been entrusted with sharing this uniquely Australian story with the world.

ACMI Director & CEO Seb Chan called the partnership “testament to ACMI’s standing as the home of screen culture in Australia, and Melbourne’s significance as a global cultural capital where groundbreaking exhibitions are created.”

BBC Studios

BBC Studios manages the global licensing and brand extensions for Bluey outside of Australia. They’ve been instrumental in making Bluey a genuine worldwide phenomenon, striking the broadcasting deal with Disney that’s taken the show to over 140 countries.

Ludo Studio

Ludo Studio is the Brisbane-based, 100% Australian team who created, wrote, animated and post-produced every single episode. They’re a BAFTA, multi-Emmy, Logie and Peabody award-winning studio — and one of TIME’s Most Influential Companies of 2024.

Why Is This Such a Big Deal for Melbourne Families?

If you have a child between the ages of two and ten, then Bluey is bound to be a household favourite. The show has the ability to make kids laugh while simultaneously reducing their parents to quiet tears.

This exhibition is a rare chance for Melbourne families to step behind the curtain — to see the sketches, the decisions, the creative magic that turns a simple story about a dog family playing backyard games into something that genuinely moves people.

For kids, it’ll feel like walking into Bluey’s world – for real life. For parents? Probably more tears. You’ve been warned!

What Can Families Expect From the Exhibition?

While full details are yet to be announced, based on what ACMI, BBC Studios and Ludo Studio have shared, visitors can expect:

  • Behind-the-scenes access to the creative and production process of Bluey
  • Original artwork and animation from the Ludo Studio team
  • Immersive, interactive experiences that bring the series to life in new ways
  • Storytelling insights into how the show is written, designed and animated
  • A celebration of Bluey’s cultural impact on families in Australia and around the world
