HOT: Batman Park, Northcote

A reader directed me to a great fenced playground called Batman Park in Northcote and Iโ€™m pleased to report that it is just fantastic.

Batman Park has a perimeter fence and it meant my visit was actually a relaxing experience, buy rather than an interval training session with me running from one child to another trying to prevent them from hurting/killing themselves.

The large playground is generally well-tended, dosage with native plantings and large trees providing some cover, link including a ring bench surrounding a tall tree in the centre of the playground. Thereโ€™s an unfortunate smattering of graffiti but it didnโ€™t detract too much from the space.

The kidsโ€™ favourite equipment was the carousel, double seesaw and the wooden train engine dubbed โ€˜Thomasโ€™. There are two seats and two steering wheels, you can climb all over it and even pretend it pull it into the station โ€˜Batman Parkโ€™.

There are two climbing structures, both wooden/plastic/metal play forts with climbing frames, slides, bridges and various tactile activities like a clock and coloured beads.
