HOT: Jazzamatazz at the Spiegeltent, Arts Centre Melbourne

Jazzamatazz Spiegeltent

Last week Lady AB and I were invited to attend a kiddie concert called Jazzamatazz, which was part of Spiegeltent’s Melbourne 2013 season.

It was one of the best concerts I’ve been to with Lady AB. The rounded shape of the Spiegeltent was the perfect venue, there were booths for those kids (like Lady AB) who were a bit shy about being in the thick of things and a big dance floor at the front of the stage for the dancing tots.

Jazzamatazz Spiegeltent

I particularly enjoyed the enthusiastic energy from the singer Ali McGregor and her band of musicians. She engaged the kids with jazzy versions of nursery songs such as ‘ABC’ and ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ which segued into ‘What a Wonderful World’. We had lots of fun barking at ‘Who Let the Dogs Out’ and shaking our booties to ‘All the Single Ladies’. She kept the parents happy with a bit of banter and jokey asides. Most of all, it was obvious that she was having a lot of fun and that infectious spirit meant that the atmosphere inside the tent was that of unadulterated joy. I left the 45 minute concert feeling happy and uplifted myself – and given that Lady AB didn’t cry and even had a little dance I assume she enjoyed it too :-)

I hope that Jazzamatazz returns to the Spiegeltent’s future seasons as we will definitely be lining up for tickets!
