HOT: The Greatest Magic Show, Melba Spiegeltent, Collingwood

There are always so many school holiday shows to choose from that it can be hard to pick! If you’re wanting a fun family experience away from the CBD then head to the Melba Spiegeltent in Collingwood, which is hosting a number of comedy acts during the Melbourne Magic Festival.

Greatest Magic Show Melba Spiegeltent

We are invited to visit The Greatest Magic Show, a fun hour of sleight of hand magic, a smattering of acrobatics and juggling and lots of laughter. Sam and Justin do a great job in keeping the energy high and the audience of young and old engaged. In fact, almost every act involves a kid from the audience.

The smiles begin on entry when every child receives their own magic wand. The magic wands are used for audience participation and a sight gag with an ever-larger magic wand prompts the most laughs.

The rest of the show involves a disappearing shoe, a bunny, juggling, a cool soundtrack, a pair of undies and more!

The hilarious show gets a bit earnest towards the end, with Sam and Justin telling kids that they can do anything if they just believe.

Greatest Magic Show Melba Spiegeltent

The Greatest Magic Show won the 2019 Fringe World Weekly Award for Best Childrenโ€™s Show and it’s certainly one of the better acted and produced shows that I’ve seen on the family comedy circuit.

If you want to continue the magic they sell showbags at the end of the show for $15 containing six magic tricks inside. Every kid wants one on the way out so be prepared!
