Solar Tours

Experience the wonders of our closest star, the Sun, like never before at the historic Melbourne Observatory. Guided through safe solar viewing using the beautifully restored 4-inch Photoheliograph telescope and solar projection with the Troughton & Simms telescope, discover incredible details on the Sun’s surface including sunspots and solar granulation, along with the rich history of solar astronomy.

Presented by Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria and The Astronomical Society of Victoria. Running Sundays from 23 August to 15 November 2026 at 1:00pm.

Duration 1.5 hours. Meet at Observatory Plaza outside the Visitor Centre. Tickets $45 adult, $25 child. Bookings essential.
