DESCRIPTION:For one day\, on Saturday 18 April\, Guide Dogs Victoria will open its Kew campus to the public\, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at how the organisation supports people who are blind or have low vision. \nVisitors can explore the grounds while enjoying live entertainment\, food stalls\, family activities and a dedicated kids’ zone. \nEvent highlights include \n\nLive Guide Dog training demonstrations\nAccessible sporting experiences\, from blind tennis and footy drills to golf simulators\nBlind and low vision art exhibition\, featuring the creative work of artists with lived experience\nInteractive accessibility experiences including cane travel and human guide techniques\nAccessible cooking demonstrations\nStorytelling sessions with Guide Dogs clients and authors\nLearn the basics of braille\nKids’ zone\, food stalls and live entertainment\n\nIt takes over two years and costs more than $50\,000 to breed\, raise and train each Guide Dog. Like all of the organisation’s services\, Guide Dogs are provided at no cost to those who need them. Every ticket purchased helps support the life-changing services provided by Guide Dogs Victoria.
