HOT: Spring School Holidays, The District Docklands

The District Docklands is taking active play to a new level these spring school holidays, with free activities happening every day from Saturday 22 September to Sunday 7 October.

We drop into the Springfree Trampoline Jump Hub and I am surprised that the kids spend almost 1.5 hours there – jumping, drawing and jumping again!

Springfree Trampoline Jump Hub is set up at the Square near H&M. There are four different trampolines to try out.

Some of them have basketball rings, some of them have ipad games attached.

There’s also free face painting, free blue fairy floss and pop up entertainment.

You can also enter a competition to win your own Springfree Trampoline!

Kids are welcome to bounce on each trampoline again and again, as long as they join the back of the line. We visit on a Sunday afternoon and the queues are short and move quickly.

The website says that the trampolines are best for children 6+ years but I see plenty of younger kids joining in. There is only one person in a trampoline at a time so even the littlest kids will be safe.

For the rest of the school holidays The District Docklands is hosting an obstacle course challenge. From Wednesday 26 September to Sunday 7 October kids can scale the bouldering wall, swing through the monkey bars, balance, crawl, jump and navigate hurdles.

For the Grand Final public holiday Friday 28 September there is an extra event with The District Docklands Footy Colours Game Day Zone. There’ll be face painting, giveaways and prizes from 11-5pm.

If you’re looking for free family-friendly fun these school holidays The District Docklands is an easy place to hang out for a couple of hours. There are loads of cafes and shops plus additional (paid) entertainment such as Chipmunks Docklands and ArtVo. Spend $20 at any retailer and you get free parking for the first 2 hours too.

  1. Hi Joyce,
My husband took the kids to the ‘Trampoline Hub’ today.
Really, it was just a company trying to sell their trampolines – he was repeatedly harassed by sales staff the entire time they were there.
Yes, the kids could go on the trampoline again and again, but they’d want to – only having a 2 min jump before being told to get off (and that was with a small queue of 3-4 kids in each line when they were there).
There was no face painting, no blue fairy floss, and no pop-up entertainment.
I feel like the Docklands website advertisement for this activity has been grossly exaggerated.
