HOT: Myer Christmas Windows 2016 – One Christmas Eve by Corinne Fenton and Marjorie Crosby-Fairall

The Myer Christmas windows 2016 are back for their 61st year with another dazzling display of a very Melbourne, very Australian-style Christmas.

The 2015 Myer Christmas Windows were based on the picture book ‘Little Dog and the Christmas Wish‘ by Melburnians Corinne Fenton and Robin Cowcher and this year’s windows are based on another picture book written by Corinne Fenton and illustrated by Sydneysider Marjorie Crosby-Fairall called ‘One Christmas Eve’.

The book and the windows are an homage to Melbourne of yesteryear and a particularly Australian experience of Christmas, complete with the hose and paddle pool and swinging on the Hills Hoist!

You can find many Australian icons and Melbourne landmarks in the display.

Luna Park plays a prominent part in the story plus see if you can spot Sidney Myer Music Bowl, mince pies, a paper party hat from a bon bon and garden gnomes! The detail is astounding.

The display is sure to delight young and old. The most magical moment is when Bella’s carousel horse rides high into the sky above Luna Park. It is truly a magical moment.

  1. Thank you for posting this. I’m wondering if you could also add that Marjorie and I will be signing books at the Melbourne Myer entrance today from 12-2.00 as well as tomorrow (Wednesday) same time. Marjorie then returns to Sydney but I’ll continue signing at various times, to be advised. Thanks heaps. Corinne

  2. Where can I buy 2 copies of One Christmas Eve by Corinne Fenton – preferable signed copies but unsigned will be OK. I live in Tassie and am happy to pay postage. Are they for sale in Myer Hobart?

  3. I like to buy the books for my daughter to read to her students.Just wondering when you will be signing again it would be nice to have a signed book to give Thanks

  4. Major disappointment so not a xmas story. I am used to it being a xmas theme and prefer it that way I would not recommend seeing it this year. I hope you have a change next year and return to a xmas holidays theme.

  5. Was very disappointed in the Windows this year it wasn’t Christmassy stop modernising Christmas keep it traditional and vibrant and exciting.. It doesn’t do it for the kids ?. Myers you guys use to have the best Windows but in the last couple of years it’s gone down hill .

  6. Hello I see you have based the Myer Christmas display on these books. Also in Brisbane? Is this right? . My Grandchildren are younger than 20 months and not quite 4 year old. Is this display in Myer applicable to their age groups? My Nephew said he had heard they were disappointing. We were going to take the grandchildren in on the train as we are from outside Brisbane. Will it hold their attention?

  7. How beautiful again Myers touched my heart for sure. A Christmas wish a little girls wish came true. Thankyou Myers Melbourne. Books were available for signing a month ago. Still available at the entry to Myers in Melbourne to purchase.

  8. My daughter in law and I just visited the Myer Christmas windows and we thought that they were magical. Much better than last year, very nostalgic.

  9. Christmas is one of my favorite festival in my childhood! Especially, it will be better with the carousel rides and some other rides at christmas, such as the bounce house, swing rides, disco rides, roller coaster, ferris wheel, etc.
    Thanks for your great share!
