The Myer Christmas windows 2016 are back for their 61st year with another dazzling display of a very Melbourne, very Australian-style Christmas.
The 2015 Myer Christmas Windows were based on the picture book ‘Little Dog and the Christmas Wish‘ by Melburnians Corinne Fenton and Robin Cowcher and this year’s windows are based on another picture book written by Corinne Fenton and illustrated by Sydneysider Marjorie Crosby-Fairall called ‘One Christmas Eve’.
The book and the windows are an homage to Melbourne of yesteryear and a particularly Australian experience of Christmas, complete with the hose and paddle pool and swinging on the Hills Hoist!
You can find many Australian icons and Melbourne landmarks in the display.
Luna Park plays a prominent part in the story plus see if you can spot Sidney Myer Music Bowl, mince pies, a paper party hat from a bon bon and garden gnomes! The detail is astounding.
The display is sure to delight young and old. The most magical moment is when Bella’s carousel horse rides high into the sky above Luna Park. It is truly a magical moment.
Corinne Fenton and Marjorie Crosby-Fairall are signing their book Tuesday 8 November and Wednesday 9 November 12-2pm at the Myer Melbourne entrance. Other times you can buy signed copies of One Christmas Eve at the Bourke Street entrance to the Myer store…
…or head up to level 6 and experience the Myer Giftorium for all your gift-buying needs and Santaland including the Christmas train.
The Myer Melbourne Christmas Windows are on display every day from 7:30am daily until Wednesday 6 January 2016.
Myer’s Bourke Street Mall stall will also be hosting other Christmas events including the Christmas Carnival with live entertainment, workshops, giveaways and more on Saturday 26 November 10am-6pm.
