Food decorating workshop Kids Can Cook Sheraton Melbourne Little Scientists

The food decorating workshop begins at 12.30, with each child getting a chef’s hat and apron to get into the mood. Our chef explains that cooking is a form of science that combines ingredients and chemical reactions to create different foods, flavours and drinks.

The children start out by adding a syringe of raspberry to a glass of lemonade and stirring it through. Lots of kids also enjoy drinking the contents back out from the syringe and repeating!

Next, the kids receive a pre-cut layer cake and an assortment of fillings including cream, sprinkles and a syringe of chocolate sauce.

The chef guides them through how to assemble their upside-down layer cakes, and the children are soon intent on creating masterpieces.

There are a few nervous moments as everyone watches the kids tip their cakes, but there are no disasters and some very triumphant little scientists.

The workshop takes about half an hour and really engages the children, who naturally then get to eat their “experiments”!

Kids Can Cook x Little Scientists is on every day from Monday 13 January to Saturday 25 January 2020 12-2pm (workshop begins at 12.30). Bookings are essential online.
