The theme of the session was ‘bubbles’ and it started off with a reading of the picture book ‘Bubble Trouble’. This led to a physical warm-up with stretching, bubble-inspired movements and general fun.
Refusnik Lady AB refused to participate…until she was presented with a bubble wand. Then she opened right up, blowing and chasing bubbles in the sunshine and climbing in and around the sculptures of Heide’s garden.
Back in the art room we enjoyed the usual delightful morning tea provided by Cafe Vue at Heide with babycinos, toasties, fruit and lamingtons and tackled some bubble art.
The kids were given a bunch of tied up straws that they dipped into a mix of wool wash and food dye. Then they blew into their straw wands and created marbled artwork filled with swirling colours and splatters of paint. It was messy and fun and quite an easy activity to replicate at home (even by non-crafty me).
From 2015 Heide Museum of Modern Art are continuing to hold Heide Art Bubs twice a month, alternating on a Thursday or Friday. Tickets have gone up slightly to $22 for adults ($18 for members/concession) and January 2015 session are on sale now. The 20 spots per class are in high demand so get in quick.
