Love craft – but hate mess? Crafternoon in Brunswick is a fantastic child-friendly cafe and creative craft space on Sydney Road and the perfect location for a rainy day adventure.
You can’t help but be inspired when you enter. The front room has a decoupage floor, many customer’s artwork dangling from the ceiling and examples of the range of different activities you can try.
As we visit around Chinese New Year we use the provided templates to make dragon masks, Year of the Monkey bookmarks and themed colouring-in.
You can also choose between such as painting, pasting, playdough and badge making starting from $3.
The food menu contains all-day brunch options, sweets and drinks (including Strada coffee). Lady AB’s babycino is as cute as a button ($2) while her avo and cheese toastie was a reasonable $6. I really enjoyed my dish of home made corn bread, a huge serve of beans and avocado ($14).
My visit to Crafternoon is one of the most relaxing mornings I’ve had in a while. Lady AB colours in while I enjoyed a hot chai and then we both do some more craft to the soundtrack of Radiohead’s Karma Police while the rain beats the pavement outside.
