  • Wallace & Gromit and Friends: The Magic of Aardman (Fri 13 Oct – Sun 29 Oct) – take an extraordinary trip from sketches and models through to elaborate sets as these beloved characters take shape on screen. Full review. 
  • The Pool: Architecture, Culture and Identity ( Fri 13 Oct – Thu 1 Feb 2018) – A multi-sensory installation of water, light, scent and sound, The Pool is an interactive space, complete with wooden decking and pool lounge chairs.
  • A Stage for New Parenthood (Mon 16 Oct) – Across four events in our summer program, a rolling line-up of speakers will address the exclusion of parents from cultural events and the architecture of new parenthood by creating a space for parents and babies.


  • Darebin Music Feast (Thu 12 Oct – Sun 22 Oct) – Running for over 20 years, the 11-day festival is a celebration of Darebin’s musical community.
  • The Megaphone Project (Thu 12 Oct – Sun 22 Oct) – Popping up at 6 surprising locations throughout The Darebin Music Feast, The Megaphone Project features 25 bright red megaphones that invite visitors to experiment with sound and play.
  • Preston Food Trucks Vegan and Vegetarian Weekend (Fri 13 Oct – Sun 15 Oct) –Melbourne vegetarians, vegans and ethically minded foodies are invited to The Food Truck Park Preston for three day event showcasing the best in meat-free and plant-based street food!
  • Bug Lab Melbourne Museum (Fri 13 Oct – Sun 15 Oct) – exploring the world of bugs. Full review.
  • Farmers Market at Collingwood Children’s Farm (Sat 14 Oct) – Shop local and seasonal produce and visit the Collingwood Children’s Farm for only $2 adult entry (kids free). FULL REVIEW.
  • Heide Makers Market (Sat 14 Oct) – eclectic mix of art, design and handcrafted goods.
  • Rushall Community Garden open day (Sat 14 Oct) – The open day will feature: members actively gardening and chatting with visitors; a compost workshop; self-wicking seed raising; garden tours; stalls including plants and seedlings, fresh produce from the garden, home-made goodies and ‘odds and ends’; a raffle; a BBQ and; refreshments.
  • FareShare Kitchen Garden open day (Sat 14 Oct) – Hear from gardening experts and volunteers on topics such as urban agriculture, bee keeping, composting and spring gardening.  There will be guided tours, activities for kids and seedlings available by gold coin donation.
  • Writing workshop with Jo Stanley (Sat 14 Oct) – Each ticket includes one copy of a Play Like a Girl novel.
  • Storytime with Corinne Fenton & Robin Cowcher (Sun 15 Oct) – Corinne and Robin will be joining us to read about Little Dog, answer questions about the little chap and sign their books.
