Melbourne Festival is bringing the House of Mirrors to Melbourne after successful seasons at Dark Mofo, Sydney Festival and Bendigo Easter Festival.

House of Mirrors is an interactive maze-like sculpture that gives you the opportunity to lose yourself – literally and figuratively.

It’s a stunning construction of steel and mirrored glass by Melbourne artists Christian Wagstaff and Keith Courtney and stands glistening and mysterious in the Arts Centre Forecourt.

Inside is a labyrinth with dead-ends, surprises and multiple reflections staring at you at every turn.

It’s disorientating and funny at first – but after 20 minutes of twisting and turning a real fear can rise in your throat that you will never get out.

The life-size kaleidoscope provokes laughter, confusion, panic and perhaps even a touch of madness. Enjoy the experience.

For more family-friendly events (probably more suitable for older kids than under 5s) at the Melbourne Festival check out Dark Circus, Experimenta Make Sense, A Galaxy of Suns, Porosity Valley, Portable Holes and Our Place, Our Home.
