book swap bike

Book Swap Bike is a free pop up book swapping and craft event that I’m hosting at Highpoint Shopping Centre celebrating Children’s Week.

From Thursday 22 October to Saturday 24 October 2015, children aged 0-12 years are invited to bring a pre-loved book to the Book Swap Bike, a Danish Christiania cargo bike transformed into a miniature mobile library filled with secondhand children’s books. Children can then swap their book for another book to take home.

In addition to the book-swapping activity, visual artists from Footscray Community Arts Centre are facilitating a free drop-in zine-making craft activity for children 012 years and their carers.

Families can also choose to borrow a book from the Book Swap Bike and enjoy some quiet story time on the pop up reading lawn or simply lie back and admire The Western Star, a spectacular golden sculpture suspended from the ceiling, to the ambient soundscape created by Footscray sound artist Architecture of Audio.

Come along and be inspired by stories, art and play!
