milk bottle igloo

Do you remember the milk bottle igloo that Jo Skladzien (Small Scapes) and I built at Footscray Library as part of Build & Rebuild? Well for Father’s Day this year Sunday 6 September we are building another milk bottle igloo… at Heide Museum of Modern Art!

This igloo is called ‘The Dad Cave’.  Come and help us glue over 1000 milk bottles donated by Cafe Vue at Heide to form an enclosed igloo to act as a quiet nook and play space.

Children will be invited to decorate milk bottle caps with portraits of or words describing their Dads, stuff Granddads, mind Uncles and to screw it into the interior of the igloo to form a celebratory gallery of Dads!

Other Father’s Day events happening at Heide Museum of Modern Art include:

  • a rock climbing challenge guided by outdoor specialist Anaconda;
  • build a robot using Makedo tools and props;
  • live music in the gardens; and
  • win a lucky dip prize when you complete a Heide Detective Trail.

Plus Dad get FREE museum admission so you can check out the amazing Melinda Harper exhibition Colour Sensation.

Grab a picnic from Cafe Vue at Heide  or bring your own provisions and experience some free hands-on fun this Father’s Day, Sunday 6 September.
