JP Junior Everlasting Books is an iconic children’s bookshop in a quiet strip in Kingsville run by Dharma, advice stomach the daughter of one of the original owners of Readings in Carlton.

Kingsville you say? You’ll note that their address is actually now ‘Yarraville’ because as of tomorrow Thursday 17 July they will be in new premises down the the road of their original bookshop.

The relocation means that JP Junior Everlasting Books will join their parent company JP Books Educational Books in one large shop opposite the Hungry Jacks on the corner of Somerville Rd and Geelong Rd (with parking on Roberts Street).

I assume that the new shop will maintain many of the kid-friendly elements of the old shop. A large collection of illustrated books grouped by author. A cosy area for kids with low chairs and tables and space for drawing and craft. Lots of floor space to park a pram and gather for the weekly storytime sessions during school term which cost $5 per family.

I particularly liked the shelf dedicated to local children’s books authors and we bought the newest release by Clare Saxby (from Newport) called ‘Meet the ANZACS’.

JP Junior Everlasting Books are opening their new space with storytime at 11am on Thursday 17 July. We look forward to a new chapter in their book!
