We’ve had the kids’ Grandad and Granny Shelly visit us this week which means lots of fun and attention for both Baby 2.0 and Lady AB.
Lady AB has quickly taken the visitors into her stride, asking every morning where Grandad and Granny Shelly are and wanting them to play with her, all the time. Baby 2.0 has been grinning non-stop because of all the cuddles and bouncing he’s been getting from his grandparents.
The two little people have managed to exhaust all four adults in the household thanks to boundless toddler energy and constant requests for attention from Lady AB and restless sleeping from Baby 2.0. After dinner we’re not really in the mood to converse and retire to get ready for an early night.
Baby 2.0′s sleep pattern, or lack of pattern, is driving me particularly insane at the moment. For some reason he’s back to sleeping ok during the day but waking up in the late evening, breaking up my sleep no matter how early I go to bed (currently any time between 8:30-9pm). Then it’s up for the day any time from 4:30am – that’s not even the crack of dawn, that’s pre-dawn! I’m yawning for a nap by 9am/
I don’t recall Lady AB having as much trouble sleeping through the night at almost 9 months so I’m particularly frustrated as I don’t know what to do. At this level of exhaustion I’m not sure I have the mental energy to go through a ssshing/patting settling exercise so I’m taking the easy way out – just putting him to the breast. Am I just creating a rod for my own back later on? I’m not sure.
